Ali is from Alpharetta, GA and grew up at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Ali and Lee are thrilled to have their ceremony at AFUMC and are so thankful to all of their loved ones for traveling to celebrate with them!

Hotel Accommodations

We have blocked off a number of rooms at the Atlanta Marriott Norcross, just 15 minutes from the Atlanta Athletic Club. In order to reserve a room, please call 800.228.9290 or 770.263.8558 and mention that you are with the Meisburg-McDerment Wedding. If you make your reservation by August 10, 2011, you will receive a group rate.

There are many other options for accommodations close to the Atlanta Athletic Club, including the Hyatt Place and the Hilton Atlanta Northeast.

Air Travel

Out-of-town friends and family can fly into the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The airport is located just south of Atlanta. To get to the Alpharetta Area from the airport, just take I-85 N to I-285 W. The Peachtree Industrial Boulevard Exit will take you directly to the Atlanta Marriott Norcross.

Local Activities

Alpharetta is one of the many suburbs of Atlanta—there are endless options for entertainment! If you feel like venturing into the city (just 30 minutes south), we recommend the High Museum of Art (a favorite of Lee and Ali's), the Georgia Aquarium, or you can stroll and shop at Atlantic Station. If you'd like to stay in the suburbs, Alpharetta has a charming downtown area with antique shops and local restaurants. For those staying at The Marriott, there's great shopping at The Forum just 5 minutes away. Enjoy your visit!

—Our Story—

"Like a river flows..."

A few beloved friends began to tell Lee about this gorgeous girl from Greenville named Ali. Months and months later, he finally worked up the courage to ask a friend for her phone number. He called her the moment he got the number...

"Surely to the sea..."

Meanwhile, that same night, Ali was relaxing at home with friends... her phone rang with an unknown number. As she was preparing to send the call to voicemail, one of her friends said jokingly, "You better answer it. It might be Lee McDerment." Lo and behold, it was.

"Darling, so it goes..."

Surprised that she picked up the phone, Lee nervously asked her if she had plans for lunch the next day. With her usual joy and excitement, she said yes.

"Some things were meant to be..."

The next day's lunch was the beginning of a romance that would change both Ali and Lee forever.

"Take my hand..."

Almost a year after that first phone call, Ali and Lee went for a quiet little drive up to Lake Robinson... and there, as the sun was setting he asked for her hand in marriage.

"Take my whole life too..."

This September, Ali and Lee will begin the next chapter in their story, becoming husband and wife, falling more and more in love for the rest of their lives. The best is yet to come!
